Topshelfers's Cuphead Review PC, 50-100 hours played

You ever want to smash your keyboard or controller in pure rage over a game that looks like a 1970s cartoon? Well I have the game just for you!
Cuphead is a 2-D challenging platformer where most of your encounters are "boss" battles. The short story of losing your souls to the devil over some gambling bets, turns into bounty hunting other souls. All coated in this beautiful old cartoon asethetic. The music and art carry this game in a lot of ways. However, it is still extremely mechanical and the game does feel good to play. It has that Dark Souls feeling when you finally take down a boss that you've put hundreds of attempts into.

I do think that this game isn't for everybody. The game scales very fast with the early bosses being fairly simple to later bosses requiring really quick reactions and perfectly timed moments. It isn't something a casual gamer is going to enjoy. For those who do enjoy something different and spicy, I can't recommend it enough. And it is co-op! Co-op comes with its own extra set of challenges. Bosses have more health and it can be easy to focus on the wrong character as all that really changes is the color of your character. And with a game that only allows you to get hit a handful of times before you have to restart, positioning is key.

Is it worth the price vs hours you'll put in. Yes. I think its around 20 bucks and you'd have to be some sort of monster if you can get through this game your first time through that fast. I had some bosses take me several hours worth of attempts to get them down. I do also think it has some re-playability if you find yourself being an enjoyer of speed running.
