So, what does everyone think? Sexy Vita I think it looks pretty awesome. Touch-sensitive front and back, crazy processing power, 24/7 online connection (if you're signed up for a contract, of course). Only thing, the original PSP looked this awesome and look at how that turned out. The PS3 was also slow to take off.

It seems like Sony has learned the importance of first-party developer support, so that's an important step in the right direction. I suppose I'll just sit back and watch for now. Plus, price cuts never hurt.

I think that looks very nice. I do like the visual approach Sony takes with their products, and being a Sony user for most of my life, I enjoy seeing their product evolution as well. I played the PSP for a short while, and it was pretty entertaining device. I'm not really big on handheld games anymore, but if PS Vita can prove itself, it would be very hard to resist trying it out.

It was kinda cool, but the games were just all PS1 ports which was pretty disappointing. There just weren't enough good games for it, especially compared to the Nintendo handhelds. I've kind of lost interest in portable gaming too though.

I like Sony's design - sometimes - as well. Their products usually seem so precisely designed, especially with all the tiny buttons they cram onto things while everyone else races for the "simplest" product.

I actually got to play it the other day, and I'm definitely impressed. I definitely want one of these sweet devices. I can only imagine the homebrew possibilities, once cracked.

I always wanted to try putting custom firmware on my PSP, but for my version the only exploit was buying one of those Pandora batteries so I of course never did it. I'd imagine it must be nice playing emulators with physical controls though, and now there's two analog sticks as well.

It's the reason I bought a PSP in the first place, and definitely worth it. Mine's currently bricked, and I'm not gonna bother Pandora's batterying it. I need to check out if they've released custom firmware for the Vita yet. That's a huge deal to me.

I doubt it, I'm sure Sony has taken extra measures to lock this one down since the original was notorious for piracy and such. But with all things, it's only a matter of time until it's hacked. If the PSP was so capable when running custom firmware, I wonder what the Vita could do?

I was just messing around on my Vita last night. Can I just say how bummed I am that this didn't ever take off? It had SO much potential, however, they couldn't get anyone to develop games. The Uncharted game was stunning, if we could have gotten more games like that who knows what could have happened. A shame.

Agreed! I felt the same about the original PSP and 3DS. I mean, they were both popular, but never realized their full potential. Not even close! I think that a lot of people moved to just casual gaming on their mobile devices. The hardcore on-the-go gamer is sadly a niche now. The original PSP was so awesome for accessing the internet and doing basic online stuff too whenever I didn't have access to a computer.

I suppose we do have somewhat of a spiritual successor in the Nintendo Switch. Console quality graphics, on-the-go! But yet, it still has the same frustrating problem...not enough third party developers! There's tons of indie games in the online store but I would love to see more AA or AAA titles. It has more than enough horsepower to at least port over some games from the past several years.
