blustrkr's Battlefield V Review Xbox One, 50-100 hours played

I play this game quite a bit! Right off the bat, I will say that it is pretty similar to Battlefield 1. If that game tickled your fancy, then you will most likely love this!

I definitely enjoy the visuals, just as I always have with DICE games. The lighting looks great, multiplayer maps have different weather and lighting each time you play them (I love it when games do this), animations look great, etc. The character movement looks and feels very fluid. It feels easy to maneuver. I really have no complaints here and it's a pleasure to watch. One small bummer is DICE never getting around to finishing a promised feature where you'd be able to drag downed allies to a safe position before reviving them.

I mean seriously, look at those nighttime visuals!

As always, DICE excels in the audio category with Battlefield V. If you have a surround sound system (or even just some decent stereo speakers) you will really enjoy the audio experience here.

The single player campaign will see you traveling around North Africa, Norway, France, and Germany as different believable but alternate reality-ified WWII events unfold around you. It was fun and each area takes a decent amount of time to get through so don't think that you will be completing the whole campaign in an hour or two (especially on higher difficulties).

Playing a Team Deathmatch match on Twisted Steel.

One thing I definitely appreciate about this game, and DICE, is that they've been releasing quite a bit of free content for the game (for everyone!) including new maps, weapons, characters, weapon skins, and most importantly game modes. One such game mode they introduced for free is called Firestorm. It's the Battlefield take on the battle royale genre of games. I'm not generally a huge fan of that genre but I do hop on Firestorm once in awhile. It's fun and definitely gets tense towards the end of the match!

After all of its updates and seasons, Battlefield V now has a wide variety of maps to play on.

The reason I am going to give this game an 8 instead of a 9 or 10 is that it felt a little too "safe" for me. I am a huge fan of "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" but as a longtime Battlefield player the whole "Battlefield formula" seems to have remained unchanged for quite some time now. As I stated in the first sentence I still play this game quite a bit so obviously it doesn't bother me too much, but it just doesn't seem like DICE was too keen on introducing new stuff.

If you're a Battlefield fan, or just a fan of FPS games in general, I would definitely recommend buying this game!

8/10
