This is a good game, and I've been playing this series (although admittedly with huge gaps of no play throughout) since I was a kid. I gotta say though, besides some minor advances in graphics over the years this series has not seemed to evolve much. I still need to check out Mario Kart 8 or 8 Deluxe one of these days, but for the moment I just have this on my 3DS.

I love the online multiplayer component, though I do feel it could be strengthened somehow. But it certainly adds a lot of replay value to the game. However, even this feature was around on Mario Kart DS in 2005. 13 years, and not too many changes.

If you dig the series, well then this is the next evolution of it. If you own a 3DS and want a racing game, this is one of the best and few choices. If you're looking for a new and fresh racing game on any platform, I would steer clear of this. It's pretty basic and doesn't really offer anything new.
