blustrkr's Tom Clancy's The Division Review Xbox One

I definitely came to this series pretty late, about 2.5 years after release, as I was already pretty busy with other games including Destiny. Well, I'm very happy I finally got around to this and gave it a shot.

I would essentially compare it very closely to the Destiny series as far as gameplay goes, but in a completely different setting/scenario and with a third person perspective instead. I say this because it is heavily based on exploring, finding loot, and shooting. It does feel quite smooth although the movement can feel a bit sluggish at times. Of course, sensitivity is controllable.

An example of what you'll see in NYC

The visual detail is more than satisfying. Snow collects on your characters shoulders as you run through a wintery NYC, glass fractures realistically when you shoot it, random objects are scattered everywhere to make it feel abandoned and apocalyptic, and the lighting is just fantastic. It's a lot of fun to go through the same areas at different times when the time of day and weather are different. This alone makes the game worth it for me, but I know that's not always enough for everyone!

NYC at nighttime

Most likely due to my late-coming to the game, it was definitely a bit of a challenge to find others to play the game with. I was able to solo my way through the entire game but having at least one person with you for the endgame makes it quite a lot better.

Once I reached a Gear Score of about 500 in World Tier 5, I called it quits with this game and purchased Division 2 which had conveniently gone on sale after being released for three months.

If you're on a budget but are interested in the Division, get this game. I enjoyed it quite a bit and sunk at least a few days into it. If you're interested but are not on a budget, get Division 2!

8/10
