blustrkr's The Orange Box Review Xbox 360

I don't often buy compilations (no particular reason) but this one is definitely an incredible value, especially if you haven't played any Valve games (like myself at the time) before. Valve has their own style with their games and it was a very enjoyable experience to go through and play all of these.

Half-Life 2, HL2 Episode 1, and HL2 Episode 2 are included in The Orange Box. This will definitely keep you busy for awhile. This particular FPS has many physics-based puzzles scattered throughout its sci-fi atmosphere. It's a dark, dystopian setting and there aren't too many NPCs roaming throughout, but there are just enough to keep it interesting. There is of course a Half-Life 1, but this compilation mostly encompasses the series. Many are still waiting to this day - as of the time of writing - for a Half-Life 3 or at least a Half-Life 2 Episode 3.

Team Fortress 2 is definitely a more light hearted game. It allows you to hop online with widely customizable (cosmetically) characters and battle with other players in modes like Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, and others across multiple maps. I can't personally put too much time into this game, but I know many others have. It has been popular for a long time.

Portal was the beginning of a new really cool franchise. It continues the dystopian theme from HL and puts you in the middle of more physics based puzzles by allowing you to create your own portals, giving you true 3D movement through space...with limitations of course. There's gotta be some challenge!

These aren't my favorite games of all time but they were still really fun and introduced me to the whole Valve side of things. Plus like I said it really is an incredible value to have them all bundled up like this. I would highly recommend if you haven't tried any of these games yet and have been interested in Valve!
