Destiny 2 - Expansion II: Warmind

blustrkr's Destiny 2 - Expansion II: Warmind Review Xbox One

This expansion was definitely better than Curse of Osiris, but it still didn't quite hit the nail on the head.

I'll just go ahead and get it out of the way since I say this in all of my Destiny reviews: the graphics and art were stellar, as always. Really cool to be back on Mars like in the first Destiny. You can even see Phobos orbiting in the distance (which was a destination in the first Destiny). You'll also see Warsats crashing down after plummeting through the thin atmosphere, and the animations even have basic physics applied. :P

Of course Warmind raises the max power level and brings a whole bunch of new loot and gear into play, but I'd have to say my favorite addition is Escalation Protocol. It's ridiculously hard (especially for a Fireteam of only 3 people; most will try to let the persistent universe do its thing and bring a few more randoms into the area first, ala Public Events) and it adds another activity to do once you've beaten the game. I have yet to complete it, but it makes finishing each level that much more satisfying. As my Power levels continue to slowly climb it will no doubt get easier.

Then of course Warmind brought Patch 1.2.0 along with it, which includes: Seasonal Crucible Rankings, Private Matches, Exotic Weapon Masterworks, Heroic Strike Modifiers, and Vault Space increases which are all of course welcome changes...but kind of behind, no? We had private matches for plenty of time in Destiny 1, and competitive rankings have been around in games for literally decades.

Overall, it's more content for Destiny 2 which is all I ever really wanted. It's beautifully polished too. It just still doesn't quite add enough.
