Uploading Content
At byte1ife you are able to not only browse the in-game screenshots uploaded by others, but also upload your own! In the future, we will also be supporting video clips (this feature is still in development). It can be quite tedious getting captures off of your system, so read below to learn how!
How to upload screenshots from Android or iOS
- For Android devices, press the Volume Down and Power/Lock buttons at the same time. Some devices may have an extra button that can have this action saved as a hotkey. Some devices may also have a "Double tap on back of phone" gesture that can also have hotkeys assigned.
- For iOS devices, press the Volume Up and Power/Lock buttons at the same time.
How to upload screenshots from Xbox One using your Xbox, PC, and OneDrive
- To easily upload screenshots from your Xbox One, you will need to have a Microsoft OneDrive account set up. You should consider using the same email address that is associated with your Xbox Live account. If you do so, this process will work seamlessly. There are a couple other methods that don't require a OneDrive account that will be elaborated on at a later date.
- When you are ready to take a screenshot, press the glowing Xbox Guide button on the center of your controller. Then, press the Y button to take a screenshot. If you press the X button instead, it will take a short video clip of the last 30 seconds (default) of gameplay.
- When you are ready to upload some screenshots, again press the glowing Xbox Guide button.
- Press RB (Right Bumper) twice to view the Capture & Share tab.
- Use the D-Pad or Left Thumbstick to scroll down (Or, press RT (Right Trigger) to quickly jump to the bottom of the list) to Recent Captures. Press the A button to select it.
- Scroll down on the next screen all the way and select Show all.
- Change the On Xbox Live dropdown menu to On this Xbox.
- OPTIONAL Select the icon with four horizontal lines and two checkmarks to change the view from Grid view to List view. This way it is much easier to select many images to upload at the same time.
- Once you have selected all of the images you'd like to upload, move the cursor to the right next to any image (in List view) and select Upload to OneDrive. This will begin uploading a batch of all of the images you selected to your OneDrive account.
- Now, sign in to your OneDrive account on your PC. Find the images you'd like to upload. They are usually stored in Pictures > Game Screenshots by default. Click on the image thumbnail to expand into the large preview, then look above the preview for a button labeled View original. Click this to open the original, full-quality screenshot. Right click on it, and save it to a location of your choice on your PC's hard drive or solid state drive.
- Now go back to byte1ife.com in your browser and navigate to the game you took screenshots of using the Search or Browse functions. Or, find the game in My Games.
- Select the Images tab on the game page.
- Select Upload Image, select the image you'd like to upload, and click Upload. Wait for the image to finish uploading, and do not click any more buttons until it is done.
- That's it! You should hopefully see a success message stating the image was uploaded. While viewing your image, you can select Edit Information to add more details to your image, such as a description, where it was taken in the game, and what platform the screenshot was taken on.

How to upload screenshots from PC
Uploading screenshots directly from a PC game is simple. Just look for the button your keyboard labeled Prt Scr or Print Screen, or Prt Scr Sys Rq. Pressing this button will take a screenshot of whatever was on your screen at that moment, and temporarily save it to your clipboard.
Now, press the Windows key on your keyboard or press the Start button, and open Paint. Press Ctrl + V on your keyboard to paste your clipboard's contents into Paint. It should automatically be sized up perfectly and ready to go. Now, press Ctrl + S on your keyboard to save the image onto your computer. The most common file types used on websites are .JPG, .GIF, and .PNG.
Find the same game in the byte1ife Game Index, and upload the image by navigating to the Images tab. You're done!
